Malawi  Stock Exchange listed National Bank of Malawi (NBM) on Saturday officially opened the refurbished Mangochi Service Centre.

Speaking in the lakeshore district, NBM Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Macfussy Kawawa, said the bank decided to renovate the branch to give it a new look in line with modern banking standards.

Kawawa  said  the renovated branch is spacious to accommodate the bank’s growing clientele in the district.

“As you are aware, just recently we completed the process of integrating with the then Indebank. The development meant that we needed a bigger banking hall to accommodate all the customers. “

Today we are happy that the service centre has been renovated and is now spacious to accommodate all our customers,” said Kawawa.

During the event, NBM also thanked the customers for their patience during the time the service centre was undergoing the renovations. “

We would like to thank you all for being considerate and still banking with us during the period we were renovating the service centre,” said Kawawa.

The bank also encouraged the customers to use its electronic banking platforms as well as mobile banking to avoid congesting the banking hall.

“As a bank, we are moving ahead with technology. Gone are the days when customers could come to the bank and make simple processes such as balance enquiry, encashment and others.

“We have various platforms which you could use such as the MO626 and others which would allow you to do banking from the comfort of your homes,” said Kawawa.

One of the customers, Victoria Kingston thanked NBM for refurbishing the banking hall as well as giving the customers an opportunity to interact with the bank’s top brass.
