Lawn Tennis Association of Malawi (LTAM) will hold a two-day Presidential Initiative for Sports national tennis finals at Country Club Limbe from next Tuesday.
Open to boys and girls, the tournament is for under-12, 14 and 16.
LTA M General Secretary, Stan Kaunda, said the finalists were selected from regional tournaments held in Mzuzu, Zomba, Lilongwe and Blantyre.
“We have been waiting for this event and about 100 players will compete. The regional qualifiers were exciting and outstanding players from different divisions and categories were selected,” he said.
Kaunda said they were discussing with College of Medicine’s Sports Complex High Performance Centre to release for the competition players, who are undergoing Podium Performance Programme.
“This is their chance to assess them ahead of international competitions,” he said.
Kaunda also appreciated the role which Axa has played by sponsoring return tickets for players from Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
