Police is Zomba have arrested a herbalist who is being accused of raping and sexually molesting two women who sought medical attention at his home.
According to Zomba Police publicist, Patricia Sipiliano, the suspect, 22-year-old Jackson Sinoko of Kambewa Village, Traditional Authority Chikowi in the district was arrested following a complaint the women lodged at Zomba Police Station.
Sipiliano explained that on Friday last week the two females, aged between 20 and 23 years, went to the herbalist to get love charms.
“The herbalist told them that if they want their problems to end, the herbalist had to apply a concoction on their private parts. The two agreed and he ordered them to enter his room one by one,” she said.
Sipiliano explained that while in the room, the herbalist ordered each of them to undress so that he can “operate” on them by way of applying the charm on the private parts.
“The first woman was just molested and told to go out, while the second woman was raped such that she realised that she was raped when she went to the toilet. It was further revealed at the hospital when police ordered the woman to go for medical examination,” Sipiliano said.
The suspect will appear in court to answer rape charges which is contrary to Section 133 of the Penal Code.
