Football Association of Malawi (Fam) technical sub-committee is expected to meet Malawi National Football Team coaches, Ernest Mtawali and Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, tomorrow at Mpira Village in Blantyre.

The meeting will, among others, assess the performance of the Flames technical panel at the Cosafa Castle Cup and in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

Flames were shown the exit in the 2017 Afcon qualifier after being beaten by Zimbabwe 3-0 in Harare three weeks ago.

Malawi went on to exit the Cosafa tournament in Namibia following a 1-0 loss to Lesotho in a Group B match. Earlier, the Flames won 3-0 and 1-0 against Angola and Mauritius respectively.

According to Fam vice-President, James Mwenda, who is also the chairperson of the technical committee, the meeting will ask Mtawali for a report on how the Flames played in the two competitions.

Mwenda said apart from the national coach’s report, the committee will also receive reports from youth development officer, James Sangala, on the progress of youth leagues in the country.

He said during the meeting, the committee will assess the performance of the national team and come up with a resolution and hand over it to the main executive committee.

“Normally, after every match, a national coach submits a report about the game and his plans. We will do our assessment once we receive the report. The committee will not just look on the Flames coaches but also other football developments technically. We will invite the coaches when we need extra explanation from them,” Mwenda said.
