Once exceptional footballers in their prime, Grant Lungu and Cuthbert Sinetre are on a mission to resuscitate their careers after joining TNM Super League side Wizards FC.
Lungu goes down in history as one of the finest domestic forwards who did not realise his full potential.
Lungu, christened ‘Ginte’ by his admirers at Big Bullets and MDC United, has said he is ready to get back at his best after staying out of action for three years since leaving Black Leopards of South Africa.
“Wizards are a good team and I like the way they play. I believe I can benefit from their energy and style of play. They needed an experienced player upfront and I believe I can offer that. I am currently working on my fitness.I am sure I will be able to score a lot of goals like in the past,” he said.
On the other hand, Sinetre had been club-less after he was offloaded by Be Forward Wanderers after returning from Mozambique.
He too wants to make a fresh start, saying: “I believe Wizards is the right team for me because their style of play suits me.”
Wizards’ Technical Director, Peter Mponda, said the addition of the two experienced players was a big plus to the team.
“As a coaching panel, we settled for these players because we believe that they still have what it takes to play at the top level. Our aim this season is to finish in the top-eight, therefore, the coming in of these players will help us achieve that,” he said.
Wizards are currently 10th on the standings with 10 points from seven matches having scored six goals. Lungu’s capture is timely.
