The Rotary Club of Limbe Tuesday donated assorted items worth over K600,000 to the Burns Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).

The items included bandages, gauze rolls, gauze squares, iodine and liquid paraffin for cleaning and healing wounds.

Rotary Club of Limbe president Karan Savjani said they decided to help the hospital’s unit following a request from the facility.

“These are basic essentials which are needed when it comes to treating wounds. We hope the donation will go a long way in promoting operations of the unit,” said Savjani.

He called on the private sector companies to help the Burns Unit which, he said, does not get the much needed support as compared to other units at the hospital.

Senior Nursing Officer at the Burns Unit, Maggie Chimenya, thanked the Rotary Club of Limbe for the support.

“In the past it was difficult for us to effectively perform our tasks because of shortage of these items. Now that we have got them, we are very thankful,” said Chimenya.
