Renowned singer and guitarist Faith Mussa has established his own band known as Mdidi, a name which surprisingly will also be the title of his second album to be released in June this year.
The ‘Desperate’ hit maker, who sparked during a show in Zomba on Saturday, said he was happy that he was making positive strides in his music career.
The University of Malawi graduate also revealed that he will release a single ‘Mdidi’ off the new album on May 8, 2016.
“Mdidi is a symbol of dominance and we are talking about ‘Mdidi’ because we see ourselves to have risen beyond all negativity to impact the society at a higher level,” said the singer.
He added:
“So we walk with loud thundery footsteps (Mdidi). And this is why the band name is Mdidi and the new album title is Mdidi.”
He said the several tours he has made outside the country have helped transform his music such that people will see something different in his latest album.
“There were gaps in my first album Desperate but I have put some things right in the second album and I am optimistic people will love the new songs.
I am still learning but I am happy we are clicking,” he said.
Faith’s star performance in Zomba won him the hearts of many people including Belgium music teacher and performer Johan Vanhoutte, who only said ‘Faith was something else.’
The singer said he has so far done more than 12 songs and that he was only remaining with mixing and mastering.
He said that Crystalline Media, a Kenyan media firm will work on mixing and mastering his new album.
“The addition of other instruments will also be done by some Kenyan artists, who I made connections with while on tour in Nairobi last year, “he said.
Faith also said people should watch the space as the new album will have collaborations with other foreign artists including Brazilian guitarist Ananda Mirranda.
He said just to show that he was up with something, he has decided to release the audio and music video of ‘Mdidi’ to be distributed for free on May 8.
