Parliamentarian, Willet Karonga and Hariet Mariani, underlined their top form to win NBS Monthly Mug in their respective categories at Country Club Limbe on Saturday.
Karonga posted a net score of 69 points to emerge champion in the men’s category, followed by Shad Chikusilo on second position with a net score 71.
Country Club Limbe Golf Captain, Yotamu Saka, was third with a net score of 72.
In the ladies’ category, Mariani was outstanding after scoring a net of 75 to beat second-placed Doreen Kavala, who had a net of 78 points.
In the individual category, Harold Lungu won the longest drive on hole number five while Chadwick Phande won the nearest to the pin on hole 13.
The ladies’ champion, Mariani, said despite playing under scorching sun, she was composed and calm.
“I was relaxed and I did not let it [weather] affect my morale. My performance was awesome and I had about seven bogies,” she said.
NBS Chief Finance Officer, Dumisani Chatima, said they were impressed by the turn up of 62 golfers.
“On our part, we are also trying our best because we are giving them glittering prizes as well to inspire them,” he said.
The club’s golf captain, Saka, hailed NBS for continued support.
