Business hub opens its doors in Blantyre

Enterprise Motivation Network this week launched the Hub, an incubation centre housing upcoming entrepreneurs located in Blantyre.

The Hub provides office space to over 50 start-ups and gives them access to internet connectivity as well as boardroom facilities.

Speaking during the launch, Enterprise Motivation Network Chairperson Jimmy Koreia Mpatsa said office space in the central business district has proven to be too expensive, especially for budding entrepreneurs and he said this has resulted in most upcoming entrepreneurs operating from their homes thereby eroding confidence from prospective clients.

“We believe that the Hub will help give upcoming entrepreneurs a proper physical address where they could invite clients and discussbusiness,” said Mpatsa.

And according to Blantyre City Mayor Noel Chalamanda, the initiative will help to spur entrepreneurship in the country.

FDH bank presented a cheque of K2 million to the Hub to help finalise infrastructure development as well as financing boardroom rentals where the young entrepreneurs will meet clients and seal deals.

FDH Chief Risk Officer William Mpinganjira said the bank is committed to supporting the development of entrepreneurship in the country. “As a bank which was started by a local Malawian, Dr ThomsonMpinganjira, we would like to see many Malawians excelling in business,” said Mpinganjira.
