Injury frustrates Ishmael Thindwa

Be Forward Wanderers striker, Ishmael Thindwa, says he is increasingly getting frustrated by lack of game time due to a knee injury.

The former Zimbabwe’s Caps United striker has spent six months without playing competitively, and is likely to miss the 2016 TNM Super League’s opening weeks.

In a recent interview, Thindwa said he was making steady recovery.

“I am looking forward to playing good football next season. It was tough last season without playing football,” Thindwa said.

He only made one competitive appearance as a substitute for Nomads in a 2015 Carlsberg Cup match last season.

Recently, Thindwa went for a successful operation on his damaged knee ligament at Beit Cure International Hospital in Blantyre.

Wanderers’ team manager, Steve Madeira, painted a gloomy picture yesterday that it could take some months for Thindwa to start playing active football.

“He is recovering well. We went for check-up last week, and we will go for another check-up next week. We are hoping that he might resume light training soon, but as a precaution we will not rush him into action,” Madeira said.

Thindwa’s football career took a reverse gear in Zimbabwe where he had limited game time at Caps in two years. The frustrations forced him to negotiate for a move to Wanderers.

Before joining Caps from Epac, Thindwa was one of the most feared forwards on the domestic scene having won the TNM Super League Golden Boot Award twice in three seasons.
