Moyale Barrackss FC have announced a delay in the release of the team’s full squad ahead of the 2016 TNM Super League season to kick-off in April.
Moyale said the delay has come about because other players are out on Malawi Defense Force (MDF) assignments.
The team’s manager, Lieutenant, Chimwemwe Banda told The Daily Times on Monday that the team is currently training.
“We believe time is still available. When our players finish their MDF duties, they will be able to cope up with the new players so fast,” he said.
Banda could not disclose the number of players that have been recruited, but said some of them have been sourced locally in Mzuzu City, while others are from Likoma Island.
“I should apologise to Moyale supporters, it pains us all to see how we have moved from being one of the best teams in Malawi to a poorly-performing one. We are working on the team to make sure we do well this season,” Banda said.
The team manager also assured the supporters of the presence of striker, Gastin Simkonda, who is in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on a peace-keeping mission.
“Our team does not have problems with the Club Licencing System issue, especially on the coach’s qualifications, because as I am talking to you, I just got Caf A and B licences for our coach Charles Kamanga in my office,” he said.
During the 2015 TNM Super League, Moyale finished on position nine with 34 points.
