Jessie Kabwila charged with Treason

Malawi Congress Party Publicist Jessie Kabwila who was arrested by police Monday has been charged with Treason.

Kabwila has since been released on bail Tuesday morning after spending a night in police custody at Kanengo. Monday evening MCP Secretary General Gustave Kaliwo told Times News that he signed for Kabwila’s bail but that she could not be released until Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile Kabwila has been ordered to report back to police on Friday this week.

The police are still searching for her co-suspect Louis Chakwantha who is believed to have sought political asylum at the Germany embassy in Lilongwe since Monday afternoon soon after parliament was adjourned.

And on his facebook page MCP president Lazarus Chakwera thanked Malawians for rallying behind the party during the time Kabwila was in custody.
