Malawian women’s football striker, Tabitha Chawinga proved that she is ready for Swedish new season when she scored a hat-trick as Kvarnsvedens IK beat Gusk 7-0 in their first pre-season game played on a chilly Saturday.

Chawinga scored a first-half hat-trick before Lisa Linda, Sara Elnicky, Lovisa and Lova Lundin added a goal each.

The Swedish Women’s Premier League resumes on March 3, 2016.

On Sunday, the former DD Sunshine striker said she was geared up for the top-flight league having set alight the lower leagues in two consecutive seasons.

The Swedish league has many world-class players, including Brazilian, Marta.

“I am ready for the new season after a three -month break. I am confident that I will not struggle because during off-season, I was also training with my former team in Malawi,” Chawinga said.

“It’s freezing here, but being my third season in Sweden, I have adapted well to such conditions.”

She finished as top goal scorer with 43 goals in the Swedish second-tier league last season.

Chawinga inspired Kvarnsvederns to win the championship, and also earn an automatic promotion to the Premier League.

In her debut 2014 season in Sweden, Chawinga also won the Golden Boot Award with 38 goals despite joining the league already in progress.
