Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, has dismissed claims of vote rigging and criticism from international election observers.
Museveni was declared winner of Uganda’s election on Saturday extending his rule to a potential 35 years. The main opposition leader in Uganda, Kizza Besigye, has rejected the result of Thursday’s elections.
Besigye, under house arrest since Friday, said Ugandans had seen “the most fraudulent electoral process”.
The next closest challenger to Museveni, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, is also reportedly under house arrest.
