Government has warned people living in low-lying areas to move upland, warning that such areas will be susceptible to flash floods.
Director of Irrigation and Water Development, Sandram Maweru, said in a statement released on Tuesday that heavy rains will continue falling in various parts of the country in the next four days.
The warning comes barely two days after the Department of Weather and Meteorological Services announced on February 14 that heavy rains would continue to fall in the Northern Region, Central Region and some parts of the Southern Region.
Meanwhile, Maweru has urged people living along North Rukuru, Songwe and Lufilya in Karonga; in the Lakeshore districts of Nkhotakota, Salima, Mangochi and Dedza.
He says other flood-prone areas are low-lying areas along rivers Livulezi-Bwanje and Shire.
He has since warned people in the areas to move upland.
