Be Forward Wanderers demoted coach, Elia Kananji, has come out of the cocoon, stating that he wants to learn more from legendary, Jack Chamangwana.
Chamangwana has been appointed the Nomads head coach temporarily to give Kananji an opportunity to earn Caf coaching badges, starting with level C next month.
“He is a respected coach with vast knowledge and experience. I want to learn more from him so that I should have some prior knowledge before taking part in the courses. It would be easier to do well during the courses if the other coaches that have done it before help us during the preparations,” Kananji said.
Kananji, who holds a Fam C Licence, said he cherishes the opportunity of upgrading his qualifications.
Kananji said he learnt a lot from Chamangwana when he came in as technical director in the second round of the 2015 League season when the Nomads were struggling.
“He gave us good guidance and we formed a good partnership. That is why we finished in the top-four despite our earlier struggles. I am looking forward to a better working relationship with him,” he said.
Chamangwana said he was ready to help Kananji and the other coaches to advance their careers.
“There are a lot of talented coaches in the country, but they need to get high qualifications for them to make a bigger impact in football development in the country. That is the only way to develop good players and then a strong national team,” he said.
Chamangwana will be doubling his role as the club’s technical director.
Only coaches with a minimum of Caf B licence will be allowed to lead coaching panels in the 2016 Super League season.
Nyasa Big Bullets are also searching for a head coach after demoting Mabvuto Lungu who does not have a Caf coaching badge.
