As part of its corporate social responsibility, First Merchant Bank (FMB) has pumped K3 million into Times TV’s programme called ‘The Loud Whisper’.
The sponsorship is expected to cover two episodes of the programme which will feature the drug situation in the country.
FMB Head of Marketing, Slyvia Mataka, commended Times TV for coming up with the programme and hoped that more issues will be unearthed through the sponsorship.
“There is a lot going on out there that we in the corporate world are not aware of. These people struggling in different communities are the same people that build our companies and so as FMB, this is one of the ways we can give back to the community by letting you, Times TV, expose those problems,” she said.
Mataka then called for action from responsible authorities, arguing that all Malawians are important and need the help of those that are well to do.
“As FMB, we hope that this sponsorship will help Times TV reach to the [furthest] neglected areas. I also plead with you the owners of this programme to give out the honest reality of information and the picture on ground in the areas you go to,” Mataka said.
Times Group Chief Commercial Manager, Dumisani Ngulube, expressed gratitude to FMB and promised to improve the depth and breadth of the next episodes.
“We can say the first step has been achieved and that was to convey a message to Malawians in various sectors of what other equally important Malawians are facing. With the coming in of this sponsorship, we are going to conduct intense research and come up with in-depth episodes,” he said.
